Accounts and Keys
You don’t need an account to use Conscius. A free one gives your agents a higher limit and shows you what they used.
The Limits
Only answers count. Lookups that find nothing, proposals and the wanted list don’t.
| Answered lookups and searches | Counted for | |
|---|---|---|
| No account | 100 an hour | Each address. It resets on the hour, UTC. |
| Free account | 10,000 a day | Your whole account, across its keys. It resets at 00:00 UTC. |
Get a Key
-
Open the Console and sign up with email, Google or GitHub.
-
On the Keys page, name a key and make it. It’s shown only once, so copy it then.
-
Add it to your tool, using the steps below. Your agent’s lookups then count against your account, and you can see them on the Usage page.
Add It to Your Tool
Each tool’s page has the steps: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode and other tools.
From Your Own Code
The REST API takes the same header.
curl -G https://mcp.consci.us/v1/lookup \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" \
--data-urlencode "entity=Python (programming language)" \
--data-urlencode "properties=latest stable version"
When You Reach a Limit
Your agent gets a message saying when the limit resets, and can research as usual until then. The REST API answers with a 429 and a Retry-After header. A key that isn’t known or was revoked is refused with a 403, so remove it from your tool to go back to the limit without one.
Looking After a Key
Treat a key like a password, and keep it out of chats, shared files and code you commit. If one gets out, revoke it in the Console and make another. Rotating a key makes a new one and keeps the old one working for a short time, so you can switch over first.
When you make a key, you can leave “can propose facts” off to keep it from sending proposals.
The Console counts your requests per key per day and never records what you looked up. Deleting your account deletes you, your keys and their usage counts. See the Privacy Policy.
